Now I'm An Aussie!

What a truly wonderful evening.
The lions of woden really know how to put on a do.

A very intimate welcoming evening, spent in the company of some of Canberra's most distinguised of community members.
Lions club members were seated at each table to guide each of us through the ceremony.

I had the pleasure of the company of lion Ron who is District President for youth
and has an Order of Australia !.. very distinguished company indeed.

He chatted about lions club and the work he has been involved in, we discussed the meetings and general business just to convey to us an idea of the role Lions plays in providng community assistance.

As well as this distinguished company my beautiful family joined me, Mum and Shaun Demelza and Cenedra.I received congratulatory messages from the kids who couldn't attend through the evening, and Dad had flown back to Queensland early in the morning.

We were able to take lots of photos with the lions members and the speaker of the legislative Asssembly and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal and ceremony.

I affirmed my alliegence to Australia with 4 other new Aussies and the remaining 20 people swore on the bible.

If you havent attended a ceremony like this but you know someone who is becoming a citizen, join them for the evening, it is a fabulous opportunity to really feel a sense of Aussie community.

Thank you Lions club Woden for this introduction to Aussie welcoming hospitality.
